After the WiMax, the WiFi step : done !

It’s already few weeks that my wimax connection to the Internet works nice : no drops, only once a strange DNS flaw during a week-end but nothing terrible, and a very stable bandwidth.

The next step was to install a wifi router after the RJ-45 antenna box, where I connected the PC.

I chose a Linksys Pre-N in order to be sure that signal will go well through the thick walls of my humble farm.

After a config off line in Clamart, the deploy went as well as expected : 1) plugging everything, 2) let’s surf on the World Wide Web !

Now, I have a question : is the signal is so strong that my neighbors can “see” it ? I think so, but it must be checked. It will be the first HotSpot in Montperroux ever Cool

In case you drive on the D42 between Essay and Marchemaisons, KP 7, and that your palm says it found a new network, welcome on zewifi !

Pleasant Holydays !

My holydays are beginning very well : regarding the rain of course !

I have to repair the gutter and the rain water gathering system, there is no dry enough time yet !

At this time, there is at least one good point : we managed to cope with the growing grass in the orchard. As we decided to do not have sheeps or others, we have to do it by ourselves.

We fight almost bare hands until Pierre (thanks a lot) lent us a strong treedozer. It gave me some buzz in the ears for days but it was very efficient. My 2cts hint : wear ear plugs or similar while using such tool !

To finish the orchard cleaning, I hired a gardener but his cultivator failed out of order before the end. No Luck ! And he has to come back later.

Question : what to do with the cut grass ? We tried the burning but it’s very long, and when it’s rainy, it’s making a lot of smoke. Then we tried to bring them all to the dechetery. It’s heavy, with big volume and it’s going to cost a fortune in gas.

May be somebody can take it away as food for animals ? Let see if this is a solution.

This is just the beginning of my holydays, and we are waiting a lot of friends : our barbecue will have a hard time !
